My background in terms of drawing and painting is very figurative, however in the two years I have moved into more abstract and organic forms.This began with the foam works, using this material really started an interest, as it was the first time using materials where I didn’t have full control over what was happening, as to make the foam works I was burning it and cutting it and pouring wax on it.This led to the wax works, the idea of encasing structures into was got her really excited. Especially the aspect of having to work really quickly and almost battling with the piece.The significance of the wax, the idea of things being submerged in a material. For me it is exploring the atmosphere of ones own mind, how events, experiences all impact your own atmosphere. My work deals a lot with trauma, and is my own way of processing things that have happened to me. With my porn photographic series (which is on going, something I want to revisit a lot throughout my life). Trauma itself is something I find very interesting, how it just stays in your body, the wax and the submersion is an area that I feel shows that. How trauma is a physical thing, how it can layer over your life forever, but becomes part of the landscape. However wax isn’t the only material I want to experiment with, I want to also look into using gelatine, silicone and experiment with different kind of wax to make these landscape wax works much more dense. These shapes I’ve been dealing with in 3D form have been shapes that have reappeared in my work for many years, but always as 2D. The only time in my past that I have worked with 3D items was when I started a project where I painted on clothing called “VON MOREAU” in which I did lots of shoots for and set up multiple events.
